Johnny serves the army now and he’s proud to be a soldier
he thinks that they need him there, that was what he told her
so he reported for the country on a cloudy, rainy day
he kissed his mother, said goodbye, now he’s so far away

soon he noticed that he was totally displaced there
he learned to shoot and use a gun and he became aware (that)
he didn’t want to stay longer and he changed his mind
it’s said you shall not murder and it’s peace not war to find

we don’t need no army
we wanna protect our country in a human, peaceful way
we don’t need no army
on the way to justice there’s no place for destruction, war and pain

so Johnny dropped out of military school – therefore he came to prison
to arrest someone because he denies to kill – isn’t that inhuman?
this can’t be a real world, where a man who fights for peace
is treated like a murderer. when is that going to cease?

well you out there, won’t you understand, that we don’t need no army?
why won’t you believe, that every war makes us guilty?
violence causes counterviolence history teaches us
so let’s strike new paths and please let us learn from faults
